Peter L. Amara, RA, NCARB

PRINCIPAL

 

Peter graduated from Roger Williams University with a Bachelor of Architecture degree in 1995. For the first several years of his career, working for various architectural firms in Connecticut and New Jersey, he gained a tremendous amount of experience as a Project Architect and Project Manager supervising many mid-size and large-scale commercial projects from conceptual design through project completion. He founded Amara Associates in 2008 with his brother David Amara and associate Justin Petersen.  As a managing Principal, he leads the architectural division on a wide range of projects throughout the country and Puerto Rico, including mixed-use, educational, industrial, manufacturing, professional office, hospitality, housing, retail, and residential.  He is NCARB Certified and currently holds professional architectural licenses in CT, NY, NJ, MA, RI, ME, GA, and FL.

David L. Amara, PE, CDT

PRINCIPAL

 

David graduated from WPI University with a Bachelor of Science in Civil Engineering in 1996. He attained a Master of Business (MBA) from the University of Hartford in 2006. Throughout his professional career, working for various large engineering firms throughout CT and MA, his experience includes civil and structural design, including concrete, steel, and wood framed buildings, as well as below grade concrete structures.  As a specialist in post installed anchor design, he has seven years of experience conducting seminars on anchoring systems and consulting with numerous structural engineers throughout New England and beyond in the design of these systems. As a managing Principal, he leads the structural engineering division on a wide range of projects throughout the country and Puerto Rico, including mixed-use, educational, industrial, manufacturing, professional office, hospitality, housing, retail, and residential.  He holds professional engineering licenses in CT, RI, NY, NJ, PA, and Puerto Rico.  And he is a Construction Document Technologist (CDT) and affiliated with the Connecticut Chapter of Structural Engineers.

Justin C. Peterson, LEED, AP

Associate, Project Manager

 

Justin graduated from Lincoln Technical Institute with a Diploma in Architectural Drafting and CAD Technology in 1995. After working as a general contractor for several years, he became an owner of Petersen & Son General Contractors, responsible for designing, building, and managing residential and commercial construction projects. He also has experience serving as a project manager for McGuinness Excavation, where he was responsible for supervising the construction of many new homes and small commercial buildings. He has been responsible for designing a wide range of commercial, residential and institutional projects at Amara Associates. With extensive construction experience and a high level of expertise utilizing architectural drafting software, he produces documents of exceptional quality. He is a LEED Accredited Professional and he directs all  sustainability matters on projects that desire certification.
